The Freemen of Newcastle upon Tyne are a charitable organisation based in the City of Newcastle upon Tyne. The Town Moor Money Charity offers means-tested assistance to Freemen, their widows, daughters and sons in poor circumstances and extends to assistance towards mobility aids and to those in higher education.
This project was based upon a brown field design that was difficult to navigate and hard to digest.
We greatly simplified the layout, added more images and broke the text-heavy sections down into more manageable sections.
We standardized the menus so that they were consistent between pages and introduced more colour so that the whole site looked more interesting and alive from a visitor's perspective.
The Freemen were so pleased with the performance of the new site that they commissioned a second phase, greatly expanding upon the original site, adding a forum for current and prospective Freemen of the City to discuss the Freelage and indivudal pages each of the 28 incorporated companies.
